TRIXIE FONTAINE IN “SPEED RACER”

Welcome to the second edition of M-P.org’s Starring Roles - a feature that connects WWE’s A-List Diva with the Hollywood lifestyle she often projects. With this, we will examine certain female roles in current and topical films and see how Melina could embody those roles.

This week, with the release of “Speed Racer”, we’ll look at how Melina could take on Christina Ricci’s role of Trixie Fontaine, the perky and spunky girlfriend of the valiant Speed Racer.

With her trademark bob haircut and bubblegum pink attire, Trixie is as bright and lively as the cartoon itself. She is loyal and kind, but has a sharp tongue to go along with her unique appearance. She mainly scopes out the race as Speed takes on the competition, but may occasionally get behind the wheel herself, determined to do her part to aid the team. Although she mainly “sits on the sidelines” - both story-wise and literally - she does bring a feminine spark to the rather masculine topic of car racing. She provides a positive role model for young girls, neither being over-sexed or painfully prudish. She takes action and is loyal until the end - what better example to set for little girls?

What about Melina? Could she play the role of a relatively clean-cut woman? When one thinks of Melina, one rarely thinks of innocence or cheery optimism (when thinking of her character, of course - the real Melina is actually very similar to those attributes listed), so maybe it would be a stretch to cast Melina in that part. But then again, Trixie’s sharp tongue and wit is something we see in Melina quite often. Continue…

PEPPER POTTS IN “IRON MAN”

Welcome to the first edition of M-P.org’s Starring Roles - a feature that connects WWE’s A-List Diva with the Hollywood lifestyle she often projects. With this, we will examine certain female roles in current and topical films and see how Melina could embody those roles.

This week, with the release of “Iron Man”, we’ll look at how Melina could take on Gwyneth Paltrow’s role of Virginia “Pepper” Potts, the secretarial assistant to Tony Stark, better known as Iron Man.Pepper Potts is known for her intelligence and business sense, able to cover the running of Stark Industries for Stark as he is out socializing. She is very serious in demeanor in contrast to her wisecracking boss. The two, although no romantically linked in the comics, appear to become involved with each other in the film. So, while Pepper likes to broadcast a more button-down image, she clearly feels a sense of longing for a more carefree life with Tony Stark.

So, how does Melina fit into this? Well, Melina is seen as a serious Diva - she often sports a scowl and takes out her anger on her opponents in the ring. She is not one of the more sexual Divas - in fact, she is known for her outspoken criticism towards Playboy and the Divas who pose for it. Continue…
